Page of the Barcelona pilot under Ride2Autonomy

The Barcelona pilot is managed by Pendel Mobility. The shuttle connects the World Trade Center station with the port. If successful, the service can be further deployed in other areas. The current pilot can serve as a basis for a larger scale one.

Through the project, Barcelona aims at linking disadvantaged areas to parking spaces. It plans to launch automated shuttle bus at the Port of Barcelona. The service is open to Port employees. Research organisations and universities are also a target audience.

To develop the service, the pilot communicates with the port employees regarding the best time for shuttle operation, number of people to participate, and ride booking. The pilot conducts in-vehicle interviews to be done during trips. A survey collects information about user feedback and experience.

The main risk identified for the pilot is that logistics companies and truck drivers might complain about slow vehicle on the road.

The Barcelona pilot was launched in May 2022.
